“Aguilar played an important part in helping D’Andrea to his record-setting season with their blocking up front. A two-time First-Team All-NJAC selection, Aguilar was part of an offensive line that allowed just 13 sacks in 10 games that ranked second in the NJAC. As a team, the Red Hawks ranked second in the NJAC in rushing offense (183.20 per game), fourth in scoring offense (27.5 ppg) and fourth in total offense (367.10).”

UPDATE: Tyler Farinaro and Chris Chugunov named NUC American’s Top Prospect after competing in the NUC Ultimate 100 – East Combine in Delaware.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ULTIMATE 100 COMBINE INVITEES

Young Cougars Tyler Farinaro and Chris Chugunov participated in the National Underclassmen Combine a few weeks ago at Palisades Park in North Jersey. Tyler, a freshman, was recognized as the 2nd strongest player at the event that included many players form national powerhouses Don Bosco Prep and St. Peter’s of Jersey City.

Chris, an 8th grader, shocked the field by taking the QB MVP. The shocking part wasn’t that Chris won the award but rather he beat out older players for the award! Chris was lumped in with the 9th graders who traditionally win the award.

Due to their tremendous performances, Tyler and Chris were selected to the All-Combine team as well as invitation to the Ultimate 100 Combine later in the spring.

Here is the link to the North NJ NUC results page.

http://www.nationalunderclassmen.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=23100&ATCLID=205154159

Once you are on the page, you can click on the U100 and All Combine tabs at the bottom of the table.

On a side note, Ryan Boyle, a sophomore, was invited to the Ultimate 100 as well but he participated in the Durham, North Carolina combine. As many of you know, Ryan is scheduled to move back to Montgomery this June.

Good luck to all of our players!

Montgomery’s Own DJ Catalano Signs Pro Football Contract

Montgomery High School grad DJ Catalano will have to put his coaching search on hold for awhile as it appears he has more football to play. He was selected to play in the World Championship of American Football in Austria this summer. There hasn’t been a press release yet as they’re still picking players, but he was one of the first group of 26 selected. There’s not a lot of information available, but here are some links:
http://www.americanfootball2011.com/en/
http://www.usafootball.com/teamusa/mens-national-team

As if that wasn’t enough, last weekend Catalano went to an open tryout for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League. They loved his 20 yd dash and ‘long arms’ and signed him to a contract inviting him to training camp on July 19th. He was one of 5 players picked out of 245 that tried out over the weekend. Of course he still has to make the team, but a least for brief time he’ll have been a cougar, a wildcat, and now a mountain lion.
